So TRUE....

Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

Long Time NO Post...

Usually means life is relatively calm!  Calm, for life in the transplant world...
Devin's been doing well. Going to school GLADLY everyday.  He suffered from allergies/cold for about a month in October. After 2 courses of antibiotics some inhaled steroids did the trick!!  and we managed to require no hospitalization... and he insistently!!!!! managed to go to school everyday... AMAZING!!!  Although Devin continues to have his academic struggle (might I add he has come sooo far).  School continues to be a safe place that he absolutely LOVES!!!! We are truly blessed to have found such kind, caring, committed, empathetic people for Devin.

Well here we are 5 days before Christmas and the MOST dreaded word in the transplant community has been dropped "REJECTION"!   Devin has been suffering from diarrhea and a MAJOR change in stool pattern since last Saturday.  Although concerned, I wasn't super concerned because their is so much going around!  He has NO other symptoms.... GOOD appetite, NO pain, NO vomiting, No nausea, No fever... ALL things I was VERY thankful for!  I was concerned over some malabsorption of medications (but again expected with diarrhea)!!  After a slew of stool tests, some blood work (which showed some issues but I was confident gatorade would fix that right up), and a call to the transplant center their primary concern is... rejection!!  Rejection!!! yes, rejection!! After numerous questions the bottom line is... all the things I was so happy he didn't have are the most concerning to them in the face of diarrhea!!!   If he was sick with diarrhea they would ok with it... but diarrhea alone is cause for concern!!! SO, if the diarrhea does not stop by Tomorrow a Colonoscopy will be in the NEAR future maybe even this weekend!!!

Praying to find a cause for the diarrhea so we can rest easy!!!
