So TRUE....

Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

((( 9 )))... Years Old Today...

You've all walked this medical journey (nightmare) with us... You all know the number of times Devin has been fighting for his life (too many to count)... You all know the challenges and difficulties that come with Bowel Transplant and the day to day management of his health....

So, today I have two words to sum it up....

PERSISTENCE & PERSEVERANCE!!! (and NOT on my part)
Through persistence and perseverance... Devin is 9 years old today... NOTHING short of a medical miracle!!!!
HE lives it!!! The day to day health struggles, the repeated hospitalizations, the procedures, the endless days of being sick,  the complications, the medications, the side effects,  and the emotional struggles..   But he NEVER gives up!!! He LOVES life!!!
He accepts each day and ALL it has to offer!!   By NO means is "he a little angle" but he struggles to be a normal "9" year old boy, while living a life that is FAR from normal!! trying to fit in a world that only wants "perfect"...

In "HIS" NOT so PERFECT world he continues to LIVE!!!, Laugh, & Love!!!  and for that he is AMAZING!!

Today we CELEBRATE.... 9 years!!! a great milestone!!! we've accomplished sooooo much and for that we are Thankful!!!   We can not thank ALL of you that have helped Devin accomplish, achieve, and LIVE!!!! So many have impacted his life!!! and made this day possible and for that we
Thank You!!!!

Happy 9th Birthday Devin!! May the year ahead be filled with HEALTH, happiness, and great memories that will last forever!!!!

Uncle Mike's fire gear!!

Loving his birthday at Uncle Mike's!!!

Making sure he gets them out with NO help!!!

** Devin ((((LOVES))))) food, especially good food!  He LOVES going out to eat and has a hearty appetite!!  Today the question of the day has been "Where are you going for dinner"  Well drum roll please...... ((( KFC )))) !!!!!!!! LOL yup, he picked KFC!!!!   and he'd like a cheesecake as his birthday cake!!!  Stay tuned for pictures of his gourmet dinner!!!

While you say so many have impacted his life, Devin has impacted our lives as well! His struggles and strengths serve as lessons to us all. Your strength as a family was his best medicine...
Happy Birthday to Devin!
