So TRUE....

Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

18 Months...

***18 months ago today Devin was given his gift of life... Amazing..***

The journey has been long with a few bumps in the road, but on a whole it has been a learning experience... in some areas it's been a blessing and in others it's made the struggle a little harder... "BALANCE" seems to be the unachievable goal....  Many of you see him or see pictures and think he "LOOKS" great... but the daily work that is put into that is far beyond what one could imagine..  The medications, the feedings, the diabetes, the emotional, the physical, the therapies, the numerous doctors invovled, coordinating care.... and so on....  How do you achieve balance when the one organ that is required to balance all of this is NOT even your own...  Some days are LONG, some are WONDERFUL, some are SCARY, some leave you feeling UNCERTAIN, some are FRUSTRATING... The one thing we know is....  to cherish the good days & make every minute count... because life can change very quickly without much warning....
We have been blessed to have met many families who share our struggle.....  Although EVERY child's transplant journey is VERY different.. we ALL share a common bond!  and one common goal.... Quality of Life!!!
