A Little Boys Amazing Journey & A families balance between... QUALITY & QUANTITY...
So TRUE....
Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

GREAT Ending--- GREAT Start
What a way to end a GREAT school year and START the Summer...
Devin had a WONDERFUL school year... I know many, if not ALL of you measure your child's success based on grades but for Devin their is SO MUCH more...
*** He survived a year of school with relatively NO health set backs! He had approximately 15 to 20 days out!! 10 due to illness (5 being in the hospital), 3 due to surgery, 2 or 3 due to colonoscopy, and a few just because he wasn't feeling great!! Out of 180 (ish) days of school, I'd say thats a success for a bowel transplant student!!
*** He LEARNED so MUCH!!! compared to where we started in September he has come so far!! and this is TRULY because of the WONDERFUL teachers, para's, and staff at PS 58... When I say an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING GROUP OF PEOPLE... I mean it from the bottom of my heart!!! They saw beyond Devin's fragile health issues and NEVER!!!!!! gave up on him!! Their dedication to teaching those children who struggle truly shined through in Devin's success!! Their diligence to good hygiene was reflected in Devin's overall health!!! His teacher and para truly were a gift from God this year!! and we did it.... WE COMPLETED DEVIN'S FIRST SUCCESSFUL YEAR OF SCHOOL... (and if this doesn't speak VOLUMES) he's counting the days until he can go back!!!!!
On a side note... I know many people read this blog at different times and I am ALWAYS honest and try to share my success and failure for others to benefit from and maybe even help them on their journey.... For 3 years (NOT including this school year) I paid tutors, took Devin to programs, bought programs, books, read article after article, looked at research.... and the list goes on and on!!! What I learned this year...... "IF", you get someone to set up an INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN that TRULY fits the needs of your child and sets goals that are achievable for your child.... YOU GET SUCCESS!!!!! I honestly believe NOT only did this become apparent academically but also in Devin's overall health!!! Yes, I know kids get IEP's ALL of the time and I have sat in place after place listening to frustrated parents complaining about how it's NOT working!! Well I was blessed to have a teacher who gave this document TRUE meaning and the result were GREAT!!! We did NOT go to tutors, he did NOT spend hours upon hours having work shoved down his throat, I did buy some computer programs that we worked on!! He LOVED SCHOOL, he LOVED LEARNING, and he was eager to do his work (even the extra work he got over the weekends). PS I still HATE Everyday Math, he still is struggling with Everyday Math... so for the summer we're doing Math!! guess what? he's getting it!! and liking it!!! Yes, summer work has already been started... EVERYDAY!! 3 pages of math, 3 pages of phonics, and 2 reading stories along with some word review!!
***He grew socially and emotionally!!! NOT everyday was perfect... But he learned that negative behavior, not only limited what he could do in school but also at home!! And again God Bless his teacher and para because they did a great job!!!! even on the days that I'm sure the window looked good!!
Well we kicked off our summer with a trip to Myrtle Beach SC!! It was GREAT!!! the place we stayed was absolutely beautiful!! Weather was gorgeous!!! The water temperature was perfect!! Their was a little tooooo much estrogen (6 females) in the condo but we ALL survived.
Praying for a HEALTHY Summer!!!!!
