A Little Boys Amazing Journey & A families balance between... QUALITY & QUANTITY...
So TRUE....
Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

Surgery is scheduled for Monday, November 21st at 7 AM...
I am nervous & excited!!
I am nervous & excited!!
- Nervous because... I know NO surgery is without risk.. even the simplest!!
- Nervous because... being in the hospital for ANY length of time is a HUGE risk!!
- Nervous because... Dev has come SO far and is doing SO well. Now we must return to a place that scares him!! gives him HUGE anxiety!! Only one thing will come out of it!! SETBACKS!!!
- Excited because... it's the final piece of plastic to be taken out of Devin!!
- Excited because... it's the final surgical whole to be closed up!!
- Excited because... he views it as "FINALLY BEING NORMAL like the other kids with no tubes"
- Excited because... this is a HUGE accomplishment! To go from being 100% dependent on IV nutrition.. to 100% dependent on a feeding tube... to 100% dependent on oral nutrition (between the age of 5 1/2 - 7 is AMAZING!!! keep in mind he NEVER ate by mouth before transplant at 51/2 years old!!! To overcome all the oral issue and be able to eat EVERYTHING!! and ANYTHING is a MIRACLE.. Even the speech therapists who worked with him on oral motor skills and feeding, are amazed at how far he has come... and how he was able to overcome and eat at that age!!
As for the Liver biopsy.. I am hoping it will give them an answer as to what could be going on with his Liver. I am also hoping it will allow us to cut back on the amount of labs we do!! Once or twice a week is a lot for a kid!! and this kid has NO veins.. so we have to stick him in his wrist! very!!! painful!
Please pray that Devin remains health and that we can make it through these two procedures quick and easy!!
