So TRUE....

Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

Our Simple Get Away....

Approximately 2 weeks ago my mother convinced me we needed a change... we needed to get away from the snow & go to a warmer place... Off to Disney we went exactly one week later...  Our flight taking off was interesting at best.  The pilot tried to tell us it was because of cross winds... once up everything went well... I HATE FLYING!!!!!!!!

Day 1... after being up ALL night with Devin having high blood sugars and drinking over 1700cc of water between midnight and six... I realized we were headed for trouble... Then came the funky breathing... out came the thermometer... 104.3

I did not panic... knowing that a had a great PICU doctor just 20 minutes away! was a great relief.  We were already on an anti-fungal and an anti-viral... so I pulled out my handy med box and added a broad spectrum antibiotic..  As the day went on the fever came down... once fever free we made a run for it!!!

MGM... here we come... just 1 ride made his day.. Toy Story 3D.... then back to the hotel :)

EPCOT... on Sunday for some Test Track fun and a few pictures with some characters...

MAGIC KINGDOM... on Monday eating up his favorite Mickey waffles and feeling great!!!

ANIMAL KINGDOM... on Tuesday for a little African Safari!!!

The weather was beautiful!!!! and the temperature was PERFECT!!!!

Wednesday we headed to the airport knowing we MAY be in for some trouble... The Northeast was getting slammed with a blizzard!!! Did I mention I HATE FLYING!!! Checked in at Jetblue... questioned the lovely gentlemen regarding the weather and he assured me we would make it into DC before it hit there..  he sounded very knowledgeable and convincing so I had no reason not to believe him!!!   We took off 15 minutes late... the flight was as smooth as butter!!! UNTIL we hit 10,000 feet and the pilot came on to say... "things may get a little bouncy... DC is being hit by a blizzard... and visibility is poor"  We bounced from 10,000 feet until we hit the ground... which might I add was not visible!! at all.. the windows were icing!!! The man sitting next to me said... "hope the windshield doesn't look like this"

Once on the ground in DC at 5:15 pm, we arrived at the hotel at 12:30 am!!!  5 hours to go 24 miles...  The conditions were worse then I could have every imagined... we were running out of gas... and all I could think of was how was I going to keep Devin warm until help found us!!!  Now those of you that know me know that I am the worrier!! I stress!!! Derrick DOES NOT!!! Today driving home he said, "have you ever seen the movie The Poseidon Adventure".... yes... "well I thought that was going to be us last night".... "I was scared"... need I say more!!!!

Devin's scope went BEAUTIFULLY!!!  IV on one shot!!! scope from above & below looked wonderful!! "BEAUTIFUL" as Dr. K says... which is music to my ears!  Biopsy results tomorrow!!

We are home safely!!!  :)

I will NEVER go into the DC area with any threat of snow in the forecast again... unless it is an ABSOLUTE MUST!!!!

My mother, daughter, & two nieces are still stranded in Florida until tomorrow night...

So much for a nice little simple getaway!!!
