A Little Boys Amazing Journey & A families balance between... QUALITY & QUANTITY...
So TRUE....
Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

MIGHT!! Have An Answer....
NOT a great one... but an answer.... Devin is still not tolerating his feeds... full strength or half. So we are back on pedialtye, just to make sure he stays hydrated. Today he has a fever of 102.4... His labs look ok, but his liver enzymes remain very elevated. His viral studies from last week are back and his HHV6 is positive... THIS COULD BE OUR PROBLEM!! Knowing NOTHING about this virus I had to look it up on-line and sure enough he has all the symptoms!! Viruses in general are NOT good for transplanted bowels. As a matter of fact they can be very bad!!! So today the transplant doctor started him on an anti-viral medication orally and we will watch him very closely... if symptoms improve and his fever goes away we will continue the course for 2 weeks... if the fever continues along with the symptoms we will need to change to IV anti-viral treatment. We also will need to run his immune suppression lower at this point to help him fight this infection... which of course increases his risk for rejection!!! Once he is better and the viral studies come back negative he will need a colonoscopy to make sure his bowel is ok!!!
Is SPRING here yet.....
Please pray for a speedy turn around... and NO complications post virus!!!!

Hello McQueens-We are praying that Devin gets well as quickly as possible. We spent Christmas in the hospital as Zachary had diarrhea and fevers. Both an endoscopy and colonoscopy were done and came back clear. Hoping that the results are the same for you! God bless you & have a blessed 2011!
