A Little Boys Amazing Journey & A families balance between... QUALITY & QUANTITY...
So TRUE....
Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

It all began two days before Christmas when Devin started with a very bad cough, AGAIN!!! He had only been off IV antibiotics 2 weeks!!! With the holiday approaching and his cough getting worse he was once again put on oral antibiotics.. PERFECT.. with 48 hrs he was cough free and back to baseline... Well NOT so PERFECT 8 days later the diarrhea began... We stopped the antibiotics, put him on 1/2 strength formula, and started him on Flagyl since he has been on antibiotic since October 20th with maybe the exception of 18 days... NOT good for a healthy GI system.. forget about a transplanted one!!! On Saturday I decided we needed to do labs just to make sure all his levels where holding steady and he was properly hydrated... Everything looked good!! & he was improving every day!!
Today, after having 2 GREAT days I put him back on full strength formula... it did NOT go well.. Devin spent MUCH of today crying in pain and moaning in his sleep... WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! After speaking to the local GI doctor and the transplant GI doctor the plan.... is to give him Pedialyte for the next 24 hrs.... draw basic labs in the morning and with that send off viral studies, send a stool specimen, & a urine specimen... sit tight and pray this is just a little stomach bug and nothing else... If the pain gets worse, he gets a fever, starts vomiting, or I feel he needs to be seen we will take him in... my thresh hold will be low!!!
I know their are a tremendous amount of stomach viruses going around... but I am still a little concerned!! Respiratory illness seem to get us all the time... GI pain and not tolerating feeds makes me very nervous!!
Praying for a quiet night and a quick turn around!!!!
