A Little Boys Amazing Journey & A families balance between... QUALITY & QUANTITY...
So TRUE....
Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

Humor In It All...
If you didn't live it... you'd NEVER believe it... Devin woke up this morning with 103.1... I gave him Tylenol and took him to the ER... & this is where it ALL begins...
After calling the team of doctors that care for him I got at least 7 answering machines and NOT one human voice... when I finally got someone on the other end of the phone they said "do you want to make an appointment"... NO please listen... next thing I know I was transfered right back to the answering machine.
On to the nurse... I give her his entire history typed out and tell her what brought us to the ER today... she says "his temp is only 100.3 right now... are you sure your taking it correctly"... I bit my tongue because I so badly wanted to say... are you sure you know what Tylenol is??
The next individual to enter the room... "doctor so & so said to ask you, what you want ordered on him... if we just get what you want it will make our lives easier" I said to Derrick finally a doctor that is willing to let me run the show... Easy telling it's NOT one of our primary docs..
Next is the on going fight over lab work... they refuse to run an EBV test... "would you mind taking this vial of blood around the corner... across the street... & down the block to the outpatient lab" oh sure I see that as reasonable!! as my child lays in the ER alone... Then they realized you can't be in patient and out patient at the same time... So I solved that problem by asking them to send the specimen to Pittsburgh.. they can't do that !!
Dietary delivers Devin's formula.... the entire can of powder with the baking soda in a cup next to it... GREAT!!! and you would like me to do what with that!!!
To top it off... call to order him his pancakes... "sorry, you can NOT get tube feedings and regular food... it's one or the other" AAAHHHH!!!!!!
My day was LONG!!!! and I am tired... We have a lot to work out... we need to find a way to mainstream some of this craziness... we have a LONG winter ahead of us..
Devin is doing better tonight... he is on 3 IV antibiotics which seem to have made a difference. When I was leaving tonight he was barking orders..
He realizes his birthday is Saturday and he is NOT happy about that. This will be the second year in a row that sickness has interfered with it..
