Post Op Day 1....

So far we have had a very uneventful day... Surgical team was in and assured us he was having a "good" post op day... All things looking good... He has bowel sounds, HURRAY!!!

He is swollen, which is coming from all the fluid they are giving him. They need to make sure the new organ is being well supplied with blood. As the morning hours approach they will start to wean his sedation... This will get him ready to take the breathing tube out.. Dr. Fishbein joked today that it won't be a slow wean... He said, if we take to long he'll take the tube out on his own.. LOL!! He is quite feisty when he wakes up.. and of course he goes right for his breathing tube...

If all goes well~~~~ he will have his first bowel biopsy on Friday. This will help them determine the course of care... how well the new bowel is doing, dosing of rejection meds and feeding him...
