A Little Boys Amazing Journey & A families balance between... QUALITY & QUANTITY...
So TRUE....
Don't think of organ donation as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It's really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive. ~Author Unknown

Appreciating The Simple Things!!
9/21/2008
Devin started school this month... I can't believe it! He has three wonderful teachers who have gone above and beyond to understand the complexity of his condition. St. Clare Pre-school, you have been wonderful! Thanks to everyone for making Devin's school experience so great.. He absolutely loves it! It was so important to me that he have this experience.
To those of you who know us, you can appreciate these next words and those of you that don't, you can't imagine.. Devin will be five on October 23! amazing!! Devin came into our life when he was 14 months old with every odd stacked against him. He battled episodes of sepsis (blood stream infections which often result in critical illnesses like shock) both fungal and bacterial. In 2006, he had 13 episodes of bacterial sespsis, most kids are lucky to survive one. In July of 2007 he battled fungal sepsis and pulled through.. He's had a number of major surgeries and has pulled through both physically and mentally every time. When I brought Devin home I was told his life expectancy was 4 to 5 years of age... Devin is AMAZING!! he has a love for life and a will to live. We got to enjoy Devin this summer and we are so thankful. There was not one day we took for granted. Watching him with Raymond, Caitlin, and my nieces, and nephews was great!! Watching all of Devin's accomplishments (swimming, riding a bike, playing baseball, learning how to write, being potty trained, and just enjoying everyday in the beautiful summer sun) was so much fun. Through his continuous belly pain, constant diarrhea, and retching Devin never stopped smiling.
So... as we prepare this month for Devin's 5th birthday. I ask everybody to write in his guestbook and share your Devin stories..
